PLEASANTON, CA - (August 2, 2005) - PACSGEAR, the market leader in document management solutions for the medical imaging market, announced today the company's continued expansion into the European market.

The Departmental Hospital Winterthur in Switzerland selected PACSGEAR's PacsSCAN Film software for digitizing films. Dr. Jürgen Link of the Departmental Hospital Winterthur gave a number of reasons for choosing PacsSCAN Film. "The PacsSCAN Film user-interface with DICOM worklist capability is very intuitive, giving us the ability to digitize films and scan paper documents with the same software." Dr. Link added, "We also have the capability to import JPEG image files from legacy devices such as our mobile C-Arm units. Additionally, PacsSCAN Film displays the status of image transfers and requires no local data maintenance."

The Winterthur Hospital is a 500 bed full service facility performing 70,000 radiology procedures annually. Along with The University Hospital Zürich and the City Hospital Triemli, Winterthur Hospital is part of the TriPACS Zürich project, launched in an effort to enhance the exchange of clinical information among the three hospitals.

Earlier this year the County Durham and Darlington Acute Hospitals NHS Trust in the UK also chose PACSGEAR. PacsSCAN software is utilized to scan and match patient documents with images on their GE Centricity PACS system. The Trust provides hospital services to approximately 600,000 people across County Durham and includes the University Hospital of North Durham, Bishop Auckland General Hospital, Darlington Memorial Hospital, and Chester Le Street Hospital.
